I finally worked out the trick to making my AV program leave this program alone.  Under Exclusions for my program I added

 C:\Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\AntiSpywareDAT

 

This is where the proggie stores the data files.  It really should have been simple to do, but my brain is slowing down in my dangerous years.  I just turned 70 a couple of weeks back (that is my excuse and I am sticking to it).
