I'm at a loss for words, questioning why I even allow myself to get suckered into debates with someone who I know is a bottom-feeder on many different political forums, someone who obviously enjoys conflict. The topic of this thread (look again) is about our president sidestepping the "Rule of Law." It's really weird how this topic morphed into something else, spiraling into ugly partisanship and taking sides. In general, I've been avoiding this type of engagement, because the "political divide," especially on the social issues, is the government's strongest weapon against all of us. As I see it, President Obama has kept every bad policy decision that George Bush made, "doubled down" on some of the worst ones, and has created a whole new set of ways to abuse the powers of the Executive branch. That should concern everyone.
As I said originally -- and all that I said -- "perspecive" is everything. I can't see where there could possibly be a meeting of the minds with anyone who considers Obama, ACORN, SEIU, NAMBLA, PETA, GLAAD, NOW, ACLU, and Planned Parenthood as representing mainstream thought, or more outrageously, as "the guardians of freedom." They are as far left in the political spectrum as possible, and it seems intellectually dishonest for anyone who doesn't admit it, even if they agree with their ideology. Am I the only one who notices these ridiculous two-faced arguments? In one instance, these Democrat minions throw out the Constitution (randomly and intermittently) as the backbone of their case, and in the very next breath they're claiming the founding fathers and foundation of America are, "based on a fantasy, distorted by the passage of time, and the fading of memories," and "a set of ideals based on a system held static in time, stuck 230 years in the past." This problem also, someone lacking a set of core principles, is what makes intelligent conversation with some people virtually impossible. They'll say whatever is expedient, if for no other reason than to provoke arguments.
How is it there are so many raging "big government" advocates these days? For eight long years, I heard just about every complaint possible when Bush was president (many of which were deserved and true). Now though, the same people have discovered a newfound "salvation" in these government abuses and intrusions, and even encourage more of them. It doesn't make any sense -- everything is so much worse now (corruption, kickbacks, federal deficit, unemployment, wars, government surveillance, and on and on). IMHO, this hypocrisy is what gives our Congress, who I think has gone completely "batshit crazy," the power to undermine the Constitution. They're not supposed to be able to micro-manage our lives, or steal the last of our money, independence, and children's futures. Yet, we're watching it happen?!
