With every fifty cents rise in the price of gasoline, on average, a single 20 gallon weekly fill-up for two cars adds one thousand dollars a year to the transportation costs of the average American, When gasoline reaches three dollars a gallon that will be three fifty cent rises in the cost of gasoline since Obama's election.
That's three thosand dollars that will not be spent in the local stores, will not be spent on local services, will not be spent in restaruants, markets, on houses cars or appliances., draining money from a fragile economy, eliminating the need for workers, pushing small businesses to the brink.
It is no secret that the real culprit bhind the crash of '08 was the high fuel prices that forced many homeowners to be unable to meet financial obligations, forced price increases in other commodities and destroyed the average American to forgo activity in the consumer economy creating the death spiral of unemployment and business failures.
The USA government seems unconcerned, and worldwide governments seem either powerless to rein in these prices, or uncaring as to the economic impact.
