Not sure what type of software your looking for but Linux usually comes with a nice set of standard software.If you're new to Linux your best bet would be a distro like Linux Mint or Ubuntu.Linux usually has a software manager and you can browse to the software your looking for and download it and it will install for you.Similar to a Windows installer package.Just check the system requirements before you start.One nice feature of Linux it can run side by side with Windows and you can select the OS on boot up.
