Subject: Antivirus/AntiSpyware applications      From: kkathy

I am using McAfee Security Center but recenly was infected with "Smart HDD" and had to fumigate my computer.  I used rkill, malwarebytes and purchased spyhunter to rid my system of it.

I want to be on top of malware so I'm exploring what I can team up with McAfee without duplicating and going overboard.  I've downloaded a few applications and tested them out but will only keep what I need.

I've downloaded:

Malwarebytes (trial has run out)

Avast Free

Spyhunter (Paid for 6 months)

Threatfire Free - I was considering trying out but have not as yet.

I know that there are applications that are heuristic analysis scanning and some are suspicous behaviour scanning and I've read it would be good practice to run one of each type along side my McAfee.

Does anyone have experience with any of these and can recommend a good team to run along side my McAfee?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

kk
