yeah I like wandering around too, but in this case because it's more complicated than you may think especially if you don't have a couple years time :) and there are so much to see really it's amazing, my advise is to find professional help, like tourist packages (much cheaper too!) that are flexible enough to just let you free to wander but provide a list of must see sites to visit, search for tourist information about greece through google and I'm sure you'll find lot's of help on this... and I'll be here if you need something specific
